Havens is the second major work from New Resource, rendering the contours of displacement in order to extricate a semblance of comfort and stability from entangled anxieties. Developed while Sam and Dale were on different continents, the project creates synthetic utopias in the consolation of climate anxiety, loneliness, and post-COVID unease, navigating digital venues and spaces as means of connection and creation. Visions of beaches, church bells, mountains, and cul-de-sacs are filtered through electronic musical tableaus, consolidating places of significance in light of Sam and Dale’s physical separation.
